John Joseph Travolta (born February 18, 1954) is an American actor, singer, and producer. He began acting in television before transitioning into a leading man in films.
His accolades include a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award, in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards, a British Academy Film Award, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The album is self titled - "Greased Lightnin", "Sandy" and " Big Trouble" are just highlighted tracks.
The sole reason to listen to this is because its John Travolta, there's absolutely nothing else of substance on this album.
He's a fine singer, thank god he chose easy songs because I can tell that if he went a little harder it would be a disaster, and even then on tracks like Baby I Could be So Good he sounds a little goofy.
The songs he picked are fine, I prefer them over the vocal jazz that I thought this would be but they also are devoid of passion and energy, also the disco tracks are very silly.
The instrumentals are well done but I have this crazy feeling that John had absolutely nothing to do with them, they give the album by far the most energy and are the only thing standing between Travolta and sounding dogshit.
There aren't any highlights but Baby I Could Be So Good at Loving You and Big Trouble are definitely lowlights, with It Had to Be You as a close contender.
The album art is John Travolta, its fine, its whatever, the back of the album though? Thats half the reason you buy the damn thing. Overall, it is John Travolta singing incredibly easy pop songs and barely pulling it off over some good instrumentals.
