Gibson Brothers - Non-Stop Dance/Come To America (Lp) (1977) - €10,00

posted by ad-vinylrecords

The Gibson Brothers are a French musical group, originally from Martinique, who had their greatest success during the disco boom of the late 1970s.
The three brothers, Chris Francfort (born 20 June 1954, lead vocals, percussion), Patrick Francfort (23 February 1957 – 4 April 2020, vocals, drums) and Alex Francfort (vocals, keyboards), were born in Lamentin Acajou on Martinique
They traveled with their parents to Paris in the mid-1950s, and in 1969 joined the group Phalansters, formed by Jean-Jacques Goldman
They also formed the group Martinique Express, who appeared on French television alongside Guy Lux. They were seen by record producer Daniel Vangarde, who changed the name of their group to The Gibson Brothers.

Gibson Brothers had two singles, “Come to America” and “Non-Stop Dance”, that sounded a lot like each other. The team behind the brothers did not have much imagination and titled the album Non-Stop Dance/Come to America.
I can stand both songs very well, though there are better tracks on the album.
I especially like both music-themed songs, “Music Is a Message” and “Music of the World”, while “Too Late Baby” and “People in the City” are not any bad either.
Most of the album is covered by music for dancing – disco, funk or something in between – but, naturally, there is also one ballad, this time called “Because I Love You.”
That one is at least decent, so after all, Non-Stop Dance/Come to America is quite good.
